February 2021 Photo Contest Results

We’ve almost made it through the winter and another Potography monthly photo contest has come to a close. This month, we had two returning champions claim the three top spots out of three returning champions who entered.

We love to see artists coming back to participate in the contest and connecting through our shared love for cannabis photography. Thank you all!

Keep reading for more details about our winning photos and the artists who submitted them.

Third Place: @NSD420

Z3 skittlez

In third place, returning champion Nature Sweetest Dank (NSD) is back with a budding plant shot of the strain Z3 Zkittlez. A descendant of the legendary Zkittlez strain, we can only imagine how this flower smelled on the plant.

NSD’s shot of the Z3 shows a colorful and trichome-coated flowering top against a white background. You can tell this was a potent plant just by looking at it! Thanks for the entry as always!

Second Place: @the_chronickk

GUAVA 2.0 By Connected California

In second place, @the_chronickk returns with another one of the most impressive strains we’ve had the pleasure of trying.

The Guava 2.0 by Connected California is an insanely terpy strain that leaves you smacking your lips on the exhale. Its looks are equally impressive, with a dark purple¾ almost black¾ coloration on the plant matter that acts to contrast the bright orange hairs and prevalent trichome coverage.

We don’t get to try many of the strains Nick photographs, but we did get to try this one, and we must say it makes this photo even more enjoyable to imagine the flavor and effect of the strain while we admire the beauty of its flowers. Thanks for the amazing entry, Nick!

First Place: @NSD420

Ice Cream Cake (Princess Cut)

In first place, NSD is back yet again for another first-place win. Like our second-place winner @the_chronickk, NSD is always selecting insanely photogenic strains that I wouldn’t mind having in my stash jar one bit.

The winning shot for our February 2021 photo contest is no exception. The strain pictured is Ice Cream Cake (Princess Cut), and NSD’s photo takes us right up close to the fully developed trichomes and ripened pistils.

NSD also always does a great job selecting backgrounds for his photos, with this one featuring a cool blue background that came out absolutely stunning when printed on our fine art hemp paper.

Final thoughts

Thanks for another great round of entries and congrats to our winners!

Next month (March 2021) marks the twelfth contest we’ve held and, by the time our April contest begins, we’ll be celebrating our official one-year anniversary! For us, this means it’s time to start spreading the word and growing this community at a higher rate so we can continue building out programs and resources that support our community of cannabis photographers.

Stay tuned and be sure to follow us on Instagram for an announcement about the latest perk we’re offering our members and contest participants starting in April 2021.

Thanks again, and we’ll see you next month!
